
Alkaline Zinc
Alkaline zinc plating (dominated by cyanide-free alkaline zincate plating) is one of the two major mainstream electrogalvanizing processes. The plating bath is strongly alkaline (pH>12). Zinc ions form complex zincate ions with strong alkali, and a zinc coating is electrodeposited on the workpiece surface when energized.

Alkaline zinc plating mainly falls into two categories:
1. Cyanide-free alkaline zincate plating (the mainstream eco-friendly process in the current industry) It contains no highly toxic cyanide. Sodium hydroxide acts as the alkaline medium, and zinc forms zincate complex ions with hydroxide ions, with brighteners and levelling agents added. Applications: Screws, automotive parts, complex die castings, deep-cavity components, high-strength fasteners.
2. Cyanide zinc plating (outdated technology, restricted or banned in many regions) Cyanide serves as a powerful complexing agent, delivering exceptional throwing power. However, cyanide is highly toxic, wastewater treatment costs are substantial, and the process is regulated under environmental protection policies, being gradually phased out.
