 Standard Industrial Bath Formula & Composition

Modern bright chrome plating adopts a stable chromic acid-based catalytic formula with controlled sulfate and proprietary organic catalyst systems, achieving full bright leveling and high deposition efficiency.


Main Bath Components
• Chromic Acid (CrO₃) – Main Metal Source The core raw material that provides hexavalent chromium ions. It forms the metallic chrome layer during electrolysis and determines the basic thickness and coverage performance of the coating.
• Sulfuric Acid (H₂SO₄) – Catalyst & Regulator Controls the precise CrO₃ / SO₄ ratio (100:1 standard ratio). It breaks chromate molecular passivation, activates continuous metal deposition, and triggers uniform bright crystallization across the entire workpiece surface.
• Proprietary Organic Brightener & Leveler Special composite catalyst additives refine grain structure, eliminate foggy surfaces, cover micro-defects, and produce a pure mirror-blue-white bright finish. It greatly improves throwing power and low-current-area coverage.
• Mist Suppressor Additive Reduces chromic acid mist generation during high-current electrolysis, lowers environmental pollution, and complements the function of the chrome demister system for safer production.
• Stabilizing Agents Maintain bath activity, resist impurity contamination, prevent yellowish tint or milky fog defects, and ensure long-term stable bath performance for mass production.

Mirror-Grade Decorative Brightness Bright chrome delivers a signature cool blue-white mirror gloss with ultra-high surface flatness. It covers substrate grinding lines and minor scratches, providing a luxurious, high-end metallic appearance unmatched by nickel and tin finishes.
Extreme Surface Hardness & Wear Resistance Bright chrome coating reaches HV 800–1000 hardness, far harder than nickel and copper plating. It effectively resists daily friction, scratch marks and mechanical abrasion, maintaining long-term surface sharpness.
Superior Anti-Tarnish & Corrosion Resistance The dense, non-porous chromium oxide passive film tightly seals the surface. It resists oxidation, fingerprint corrosion, acid rain, humidity and atmospheric aging, ensuring permanent bright appearance without darkening or rusting.
Excellent Surface Self-Cleaning Property Bright chrome has ultra-low surface adhesion. Dust, stains and fingerprints are easy to wipe off, providing excellent self-cleaning performance for household and automotive exterior parts.
High-Temperature & Oxidation Stability Chrome coating remains stable under high-temperature conditions without discoloration or layer decomposition, suitable for automotive interior and engine peripheral components.
Ultra-Fine Dense Microcrystalline Structure Bright chrome forms extremely compact nano-crystalline grains with zero micro-pores. The fully closed structure completely isolates air and moisture, delivering superior barrier protection performance.
High Throwing Power & Uniform Coverage Advanced catalyst system enables uniform deposition on flat surfaces, curved surfaces, edges and recessed areas. It avoids edge burning, low-current fogging and missing plating defects.
Low Deposition Thickness with High Performance Even with thin coating thickness (0.2–0.5μm), bright chrome provides extreme hardness, full brightness and complete corrosion protection, preserving workpiece dimensional tolerance.
Strong Interlayer Adhesion Bonds perfectly with bright nickel underlayer. It does not peel, blister or crack during bending, thermal cycling and salt spray testing, providing excellent coating system stability.
Unique Blue-White Color Consistency Precise catalyst ratio ensures uniform cool blue-white tone across batches, avoiding yellowish, milky or grey color deviation for high-end cosmetic-grade finishing.
High Chemical Stability Resistant to weak acid, weak alkali, detergent and daily chemical erosion, maintaining stable surface gloss in long-term service environments.
