
Acid Zinc Plating
Acid zinc plating is one of the mainstream electrogalvanizing processes. Its plating bath is acidic overall, and zinc ions are directly electrodeposited on workpieces to form zinc coatings, which distinguishes it from alkaline zincate plating with strong alkaline complexing systems.

It is divided into two mainstream processes:
1.Potassium chloride (chloride) bright zinc plating – the most widely used type for decorative parts and standard fasteners. The bath pH is controlled at 5.2–6.0, consisting of zinc chloride as the main salt, potassium chloride as the conductive salt, boric acid as the pH buffer, together with brighteners and softeners, delivering mirror-bright zinc coatings.
2. Sulfate acid zinc plating – specially designed for continuous plating of wires and steel strips. This strongly acidic system has a pH of 1.5–3, with zinc sulfate and sulfuric acid as core components. It features a simple formula and extremely fast deposition rate, suitable for high-speed roll-to-roll continuous plating of metal wires and steel sheets.
